Julie Burchill lives like a 13 gay boy who’s won the lottery; in a Brighton penthouse twinkling with fairy lights and an astro-turf floor, where MTV Hits booms from an 84-inch TV.

She spends her days sprawled on an oversized purple velvet sofa reading Grazia, re-reading Nick Cohen’s What’s Left and updating Facebook with celebrity spats.

On the side she’s the most violent, original and urgently-needed feminist thinker I know.
